Sometimes you finish a workout and just know you’ve earned a sweet treat or two. That was exactly the case this week, and we kept it local with stops at BXCR Donuts and Pastry Culture.
Both deliver in completely different ways, which makes the choice feel less like a decision and more like a win either way. One leans into creative, indulgent donuts, the other into rich, comforting pastries that hit the spot. If you’re going to treat yourself, these two are worth the stop!

🎙️ Turning up the volume: London Music Week

The Gist: The 24th annual Forest City London Music Week kicks off in early June to celebrate our local music scene. This year, 40-year blues veteran Ted Leonard is entering the London Music Hall of Fame. Lifetime achievement awards are also going to the Jones family for their century of managing local venues and Fred Smith for hosting his country program on CHRW-FM for nearly four decades.
Why It Matters: This celebration highlights the people who soundtrack our lives right here in town. From the Jones family keeping our favourite venues alive for generations to Fred Smith giving independent artists their first radio spins, these honorees have built London's musical community.
What's Next: The festivities run from June 5 to June 14, starting with a kickoff party at Dundas Place on June 5 at 6 p.m. You can also catch the Gathering on the Green in Wortley Village on June 6, or head to the official awards galas at Aeolian Hall on June 7 and the London Music Hall on June 14.
💦 Spray Pads Are Back
The Gist: London turned on its outdoor spray pads on May 16, 2026, offering families a free way to cool off daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Labour Day weekend. Outdoor pools and wading pools are scheduled to open on June 27, 2026, though construction means the Ivey Park spray pad will be delayed until late July.
Why It Matters: From the baseball bat sensor at Jesse Davidson Park to the fire hydrant at Kiwanis Park, these creative setups bring life to our neighborhood parks and keep the kids active without breaking the bank.

🍝 Where Tuscan vibes meet the Talbot corridor

3020 Colonel Talbot Rd, London
Dolcetto Risto just landed on OpenTable’s Top 100 Outdoor Dining list, and one afternoon on their sun-soaked terrace explains why. The southwest London favourite pairs a serene, Florence-inspired patio with handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza.
New summer hours mean the patio opens daily at 11:30 a.m., just in time for a glass of crisp Pinot Grigio and their signature Pizza Uovo. An insider tip: they usually open even earlier for Father’s Day with an exclusive holiday brunch followed by an elevated evening dinner feature.
Weekend reservations are highly recommended now that patio season is officially here.

🧘♂️ Moving toward a calmer state of mind

140 Ann St Unit 203/204, London
Downtown London has a peaceful multi-room retreat at &asanas for hot yoga, Pilates, and meditation. This month marks three years of local wellness here, fresh off a successful community charity birthday.
Early summer is ideal for a free first class! Rent a mat, enjoy the scent-free space, and sip complimentary loose-leaf tea. Before leaving, browse their half-price cropped sweaters, or grab a branded mug and tea blend to take home.
