🛋️ Ontario’s first compact Ikea coming to London

The Gist: Ikea is opening its first Ontario compact store at White Oaks Mall on Sept. 29. The 43,000-square-foot location features 2,500 everyday essentials, room solutions, and 400 furniture items ready for immediate takeaway, alongside their classic Swedish food selection. The launch coincides with Ikea Canada celebrating 50 years in the country on Oct. 2.

Why It Matters: We no longer need to navigate a full-sized warehouse just to pick up everyday home goods or grab a quick bite to eat. To celebrate the milestone, Ikea's new ad campaign is also bringing fun into our living rooms by sharing the hilarious English translations of popular products.

The Gist: Agriculture Minister Heath MacDonald visited historic Arva Flour Mills north of London to unveil a $1 billion federal fund for Canadian agri-food manufacturing. Businesses have a 60-day window to submit expressions of interest for funding.

Why It Matters: Too often, homegrown crops leave Canada for processing only to be bought back at a premium. Expanding processing capacity right here in Ontario cuts shipping overhead, which officials hope will ease high food costs for local families at the checkout line.
